Royal Dutch Shell’s recent proposal to acquire BG Group has been deferred for a further two weeks by the ACCC.
The deferral aims to allow additional time to consider the proposed acquisition, with the final date of announcement set for 17th September.
Concerns have been raised that as a result of the acquisition, the ownership of Queensland gas resources would become too concentrated.
Shell has a 50 per cent interest in the Arrow Energy, which provides approximately 20 per cent of Queensland’s gas supply from five producing CSG fields in the Surat and Bowen basins. BG wholly owns QGC, which is the operator and majority owner of the QCLNG project.
