Dear All,

In 8 weeks’ time, Australian utility peers will gather in Sydney for the region’s largest smart & clean energy event, Australian Utility Week 2015.

Representatives of 120 utilities, IPP’s and energy agencies will come together to discuss the latest technologies that will make the region’s energy networks more efficient, sustainable and ultimately customer friendly.

Don’t miss out on our EARLY BIRD discount! Register your conference pass before 23 October and save up to $500. Are you a utility? Attend for FREE via our Utility Partnership Programme.

Here is a quick run-through of some of the latest event highlights:

Develop a customer centric utility – you have only 9 minutes to engage them!

This year Australian Utility Week is different. We put more emphasis on utility customers. Indeed you could say our entire show is now customer facing. We pull together specialists from around the work to share customer focused innovation ideas and experiences. According to Opower, the specialists in customer engagement, customers around the world usually focus for around 9 minutes on their energy consumption. So how do we get in front of the customer and start achieving some of the outcomes we want. How we get them to pay attention to us for 9 minutes a year?Attending our show is a good start!

New customer services – Embedded Network Services (ENS)

A new trend in New Zealand and Australia is Embedded Network Services (ENS) and it’s catching the eye of traditional utilities. Embedded networks are generally used where the building or subdivision owner has an incoming gate meter and they allow energy retailers to trade over that network which is owned and maintained by a third party, the embedded network owner. The Embedded Network Service is said to be ideal for shopping complexes, residential high-rise, commercial & industrial parks, retirement, lifestyle and academic communities. Think of it as a utility service on-selling by building owners which offers them an additional profit stream, and a potential cost saving strategy for tenants.

We recently spoke to Murray Dyer, Commercial Director, Simply Energy in an in-depth interview on Embedded Network Services. Read the full interview.
