South East Water has announced that several works are now complete, with others under construction, as part of a package of upgrades throughout the Mornington Peninsula.

The upgrades to a series of water and sewer networks are designed to deliver safe and reliable services for customers and communities now and into the future.

South East Water and delivery partner Service Stream are continuing to upgrade 4.4km of water main from Portsea to Sorrento, designed to secure a safe and reliable water supply for Portsea and Sorrento communities.

Works on this project are currently underway on Point Nepean Road, working in stages from Campbells Road towards Kildrummie Court. The project is expected to be complete by November 2024.

The upgrade of sewer rising main pipelines from Colchester Road and Henry Wilson Drive into Boneo Road, Rosebud, was completed in January 2024 with South East Water delivery partner ZJW (Zinfra, Jaydo, WSP).

Also complete in Sixth Avenue, Rosebud, is a new 15m ventilation stack designed to safely diffuse and vent the underground sewer, whilst further diluting any odours.

Water pipe renewal works in Ocean and Barry Streets, Rosebud, commenced in May 2024, delivered by crews from Beca Fulton Hogan and Interflow.

In Blairgowrie, work is now complete along Melbourne Road to upgrade and improve the reliability of the water network in the area, through delivery partner Abergeldie BMD KBR (ABK Joint Venture).

South East Water Acting General Manager Liveable Water Solutions, Matthew Snell, said minimising disruption for customers and visitors was a priority.

As part of its five-year Customer Commitment (Price Submission 2023–28), South East Water’s $180 million annual infrastructure upgrade program is working to deliver safe and reliable water and sewer services to its customers and community.
