Major infrastructure works for Seqwater’s $95 million South West Pipeline have concluded, driving long-term water security for the Scenic Rim region.
The 27km pipeline represents the biggest addition to the South East Queensland Water Grid since the Northern Pipeline Interconnector since 2012.

The Queensland Government said that the project has supported more than 100 jobs during construction, with almost 90 per cent of these jobs filled by local tradespeople.
The State Government also announced that the pipeline is already improving the performance of the Beaudesert Water Treatment Plant (WTP), with water from the Logan supply network being gravity-fed through the pipeline to supplement local supply.
Final commissioning works including the installation of the electrical and pump systems are expected to be completed soon.
Once commissioned, water will flow at an increased rate through the pipeline and the new Wyaralong Transfer Station, which links the large storage reservoirs at the Beaudesert WTP to the SEQ Water Grid, via a connection at Flagstone.
Queensland Minister for Water, Glenn Butcher, said that the pipeline ensures long-term water security for the Scenic Rim region, delivering a clean, safe and secure supply of drinking water.
“I’m pleased to see this important project supporting 100 jobs during construction,” Mr Butcher said.
Member for Logan, Linus Power, said, “It’s great to see this project move into the next phase – this has been a big construction effort along the pipeline route.
“The new proposed Wyaralong Water Treatment Plant will connect to this pipeline to ensure this community has the infrastructure to deliver enhanced water supply into the future.
“It is fantastic to see more than 100 jobs supported off the back of this project.”

Seqwater Interim CEO, Will Harpham, said that Seqwater is proud to be delivering the South West Pipeline project, bolstering water security and prosperity in Beaudesert and surrounding communities.
“Connecting Beaudesert to the SEQ Water Grid has been a key priority for Seqwater and we are focused on continuing to enhance water supply reliability in this growing region,” Mr Harpham said.
“Commissioning works including the installation of the electrical and pump systems are ongoing and expected to be completed soon.”
