Former Snowy Hydro senior executive, David Harris, has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of both State Water Corporation and the Sydney Catchment Authority.

Mr Harris commenced in the roles on 13 May. His appointment to both organisations is key to aligning State Water and the Sydney Catchment Authority as the one entity responsible for catchment protection and bulk water asset development, operation and maintenance, and bulk water supply planning across NSW as announced by the NSW Government in March.

Mr Terry Charlton, joint Board Chair of the two organisations, said the appointment of Mr Harris, along with the creation of a common Board for the two organisations, provides strong overarching leadership to develop bulk water assets, operations and management and better serve the diversity of customers across the State. It is also intended to further develop relevant skills and expertise within both organisations to better meet the challenges confronting the water industry.

“State Water and the Sydney Catchment Authority have already begun the process of working more closely together as we transition to a single organisation.”

Mr Harris will spend considerable time at both State Water and Sydney Catchment Authority regional offices and will be in frequent contact with their wide customer and stakeholder base.
