Murphy Pipe and Civil, the Brisbane-based pipeline construction company, had been awarded a multi-million dollar contract with Government-owned Corporation SunWater to build a pipeline to transport treated CSG water in the Surat Basin.

Once complete, SunWater’s Woleebee Creek to Glebe Weir Pipeline Project will each year deliver up to 36,500ML of treated coal seam gas water from QGC’s Woleebee Creek water treatment plant to irrigators and industry within the Dawson Valley region.

Murphy Pipe and Civil Managing Director Jim Campbell made the announcement recently, “I am pleased our company has been awarded this large-scale pipeline project and we look forward to working with SunWater and playing a part in their strategic delivery of beneficial water supply solutions for the region,” Mr Campbell said.

A workforce of more than 400 pipeline specialists have begun constructing the pipeline and completion is expected in 2014.

Mr Campbell said the project win had further increased MPC’s presence within the growing Surat Basin resources sector, with the company’s 1800-strong pipeline construction team now working on three large-scale pipeline projects in Wandoan, Chinchilla and Dalby.
