Sydney Water recently hosted a number of Australia’s top business leaders at the Hargraves Institute Leadership for Innovation workshop.

Sydney Water showcased its new Innovation Strategy to companies including Bank of Queensland, Myer, Transport NSW, and George Weston Foods.

Sydney Water Managing Director, Kevin Young said the strategy is based on the Hargraves Institute Innovation Model and will set the direction for the future of water in Sydney.

“The Sydney Water Innovation Strategy provides a framework to help us be recognised as a best practice thought leader that delivers innovative solutions for customers, staff, industry and the regulator,” he said.

Mr Young said the Hargraves model is a great way to focus efforts in ways that have already been applied by organisations that lead best practice innovation.

“The new strategy will look at practical ways that will serve Sydney Water’s existing market and customers, as well as target new ones.

“We are looking at things that will optimise our current services and assets like safety videos and car fleet optimisation, through to creating breakthroughs in our products and services with ideas that are thinking outside the box, such as our customer hardship program and the idea of selling recycled water from our Rosehill plant.

“We are thrilled to have the Hargraves Institute working alongside us to help us develop key leadership skills that will in turn play a vital role in helping us deliver the strategic and operational needs of our end user customers and stakeholders – These are exciting times for Sydney Water and the entire water industry.”
