Synertec has secured a new project award, bringing its total contract value with Sydney Water to more than $1 million.
Synertec was appointed in May 2025 to the project under the SCADA and Electrical Services Panel. This provides Synertec with access to approximately $245 million in operational technology related project opportunities over the next five years.
Synertec’s Managing Director Michael Carroll says the win validates its strategy to pursue long-term critical infrastructure opportunities that align with its core operational technology capabilities.
These include control systems engineering, electrical and instrumentation design, SCADA, communications and cybersecurity.
“We have more than 19 years’ experience with Melbourne Water and we are taking that deep industry knowledge nationally,” Carroll said.
“We started our national expansion with Water Corporation in Western Australia and more recently with Sydney Water and we are working on winning similar arrangements with others. Our goal is to be nationally recognised by every water utility as a trusted water industry expert. We think we are tracking well in this regard.”
In addition to direct engagement with Sydney Water, Synertec has now executed agreements with all of Sydney Water’s Regional Delivery Partners, positioning the company to support project delivery across the entire Greater Sydney network.
The Regional Delivery Partners consist of:
- Confluence Water (Ventia, Downer Utilities and Jacobs) servicing Sydney Water’s North Region
- Delivering4Customers (John Holland, Service Stream and WSP) servicing Sydney Water’s South Region
- West Regional Delivery Team (Fulton Hogan Utilities, Abergeldie Contractors, Programmed Facility Management, Stantec and Atlas) servicing Sydney Water’s West Region
These agreements enable Synertec to provide operational technology, electrical and control system engineering services in support of Sydney Water’s long-term capital and operational program over the next 10 years with a total budget of $34 billion.
The awards demonstrate Synertec’s water industry strategic engagement and geographic expansion strategy and reinforces its position as a trusted provider of engineering services to major Australian water utilities.
