Newcastle City Coucil, NSW is currently seeking expressions of interest from suitably qualified contractors for the supply and installation of a GPS based Landfill Management System at Summerhill Waste Management Centre (SWMC).
Newcastle Council seeks to improve machine efficiency, maximize air space utilization, and extend landfill life through the use of global positioning system (GPS) technology on a Landfill compactor and bulldozer.
The differential GPS based landfill grade and compaction management system must be an integrated system of software, computer, GPS receiving, and communication equipment. The objective is to provide Council with a tool to design landfill lifts, slopes, benches, interim surface levels, pipe systems, roadways, and new cell construction. It will also monitor compactor effort and results and to aid the operator to achieve the best construction results possible.
