TasWater has released a tender for the construction of a treated water supply pipeline to Pioneer.

The project works to provide a long-term drinking water supply solution for the town.

TasWater is seeking a construction partner for the project.

The tender period is five weeks.

The project, which will see a reticulated water supply reintroduced to the town, delivering safe and reliable drinking water to Pioneer’s residents via the continuation of the Ringarooma Valley water scheme.

In addition, the existing TasWater-owned network within the Pioneer township will be replaced.

TasWater General Manager Project Delivery, Tony Willmott, said after an extensive planning process, including considerable community consultation, Pioneer residents will soon see some action on the ground with the installation of the new pipelines.

“The release of this project to construction tender is an exciting milestone,” Mr Willmott said.

“It’s taken a comprehensive design process and a lot of planning to get to this point, and now we’re on the cusp of commencement.

“The people of Pioneer have been waiting for a solution to their drinking water problems for many years and we are excited that work will soon begin to deliver an outcome which benefits the community.”

TasWater is on track to deliver treated water to the town by May 2023.
