Goulburn Valley Water (GVW) is expecting to release treated wastewater from its Mansfield Wastewater Management Facility into Fords Creek (VIC) over the coming weeks.
GVW Wastewater and Recycling Coordinator, Mr Stuart Harris said, “The treatment facility has reached capacity due to higher than usual rainfall in January 2015, reducing irrigation opportunities.
“The water being discharged has been fully treated and meets Environment Protection Authority (EPA) standards.
“Our EPA licence allows for discharge in high rainfall events, so due to this years circumstances, GVW is permitted to release surplus water,” said Mr Harris.
