Seqwater has begun works to upgrade the Image Flat Water Treatment Plant to improve its performance and ensure it continues produce high quality drinking water.

The works involve the construction of a new sludge handling facility and new chemical dosing facilities within the existing water treatment plant site.

The new facilities will improve the overall water treatment plant output capacity during all operational and seasonal conditions.

It will also improve the overall water production reliability and water security for the residents of the Sunshine Coast.

Work commenced in January and is expected to be completed in 12 months, subject to wet weather.

During the works there will be increased traffic along Image Flat Road. Construction will take place in daylight hours Monday to Friday and on Saturdays until 12.30pm.

Until April there will an increase in the number of trucks using Image Flat Road and also a change in traffic conditions in the area.

While every effort will be made by the Seqwater project team and the contractor to reduce noise and community disruption as a result of the works, Seqwater appreciates and thanks the local community for their patience and understanding during this important project.

Treated water from the Image Flat Water Treatment Plant is used to supply suburbs including Nambour, Yandina, Eumundi and coastal urban developments north of the Maroochy River.
