Melbourne Water intends to begin works in early 2014 to upgrade Greenvale Reservoir’s embankment.
Bill Welsford, Senior Project Manager, said the upgrade was necessary to ensure Melbourne Water continued to provide a secure water supply to the north-western and western suburbs of Melbourne.
“Regular assessments of Greenvale Reservoir have identified an opportunity to upgrade the embankment and the dam’s security, ensuring it safely operates at capacity and services the residents who receive drinking water from it every day,” Mr Welsford said.
“After the summer school holidays, park users will notice some changes including a new park entry at the current exit point and a new two way access road due to the permanent closure of the lower car park area,” he said.
“We recognise our works are impacting the park and we are working with Parks Victoria to explore opportunities for park upgrades to benefit the Greenvale community and wider park users,” he said.
