Urban Utilities has announced the appointment of a new Chief Executive Officer.
The Urban Utilities Board appointed Paul Arnold to the position of CEO, effective 1 September 2022.
Mr Arnold joins Urban Utilities following a successful career with Rio Tinto and BHP, most recently as a Managing Director at Rio Tinto based in Brisbane and prior to that as Chief Executive and Managing Director of Energy Resources of Australia based in Darwin.
Urban Utilities Chair, Bronwyn Morris, said Mr Arnold brings a wealth of operational and commercial experience in capital intensive businesses which will be of great value in the water and wastewater sector.
“The Board looks forward to Mr Arnold contributing his considerable experience in strategic business growth, people leadership, innovation, environmental management, health, and safety and stakeholder engagement,” Ms Morris said.
“Paul has a strong affinity with both urban and regional areas having worked and lived in regional Queensland. He will be responsible for pursuing opportunities that create and grow business value for the benefit of our regions.”
As an experienced and respected leader Mr Arnold will be responsible for leading the delivery of Urban Utilities’ strategic direction for the benefit of customers, communities and stakeholders.

Mr Arnold holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) Mining and a Master of Business Administration (International Business).
He succeeds Ms Louise Dudley whose term concludes as CEO on 31 August 2022. There will be a short period of handover prior to that date, ensuring a smooth transition.
