Sydney Water has launched a new online daily water quality report that allows Sydney residents to track the performance of the drinking water safety measures in their regions.
The Drinking Water Quality Report is available to residents of Sydney, the Blue Mountains and the Illawarra and it provides insight into what happens behind the scenes to make drinking water safe.
Sydney Water said the report is the most-timely, transparent and comprehensive view of drinking water safety measures that it has ever made available.
Sydney Water Managing Director Kevin Young said, “For many years Sydney’s drinking water has been amongst the world’s best.
“Now, we are leading the world in providing customers with transparent and timely information on the performance of our water quality systems.
“By going to the report our customers will see that we filter and monitor every drop of their drinking water at key steps to ensure it’s safe to drink straight from the tap.”
Mr Young said water quality scientists conduct up to 70 different types of tests to confirm its quality.
New South Wales Health provides advice on drinking water quality and oversees Sydney Water’s delivery of water that meets the Australian Drinking Water Guidelines and is safe to drink.
