Peter Duncan AM has stepped down as Chair of the WaterNSW Board of Directors after more than four years in the role.

Duncan was appointed Chair in March 2022. During his tenure, he oversaw a period of significant change for the organisation, including its recent transformation process amid pricing challenges and broader economic and regulatory pressures.

WaterNSW CEO Andrew George paid tribute to Duncan’s leadership and contribution to the organisation.

“On behalf of WaterNSW, our customers and the communities we serve in NSW, I would like to sincerely thank Peter for his contribution and leadership during his term as Chair,” George said.

“Importantly, Peter led a Board that was integral to the organisation successfully navigating the transformation process of the last 12 months, on the back of pricing challenges and in the broader economic and regulatory spheres.

“On a personal level, I greatly enjoyed working with Peter and wish him well in his future endeavours.”

Duncan has more than 40 years’ experience across government and infrastructure at local, state and national levels. His previous senior public sector roles include positions in local government, Premier and Cabinet, Transport for NSW, Primary Industries and the Olympic Coordination Authority.

Following Duncan’s departure, Victoria Taylor will serve as Presiding Director. Taylor has been a member of the WaterNSW Board since 2022 and brings extensive industry experience to the role.

WaterNSW said an announcement regarding the appointment of a new Chair will be made in due course.
