Construction has begun on the Wellington Street main sewer in West Perth to improve its performance and extend its operational life.

Trenchless technology will be used to clean and refurbish the 100-year-old section of the Wellington Street sewer.

The work will encompass 800 metres of sewer.

The major component of the work involves relining the existing pipes via sewer line access chambers situated along the route.

Experienced traffic management contractors have been appointed and lane closures will be carefully planned and approved by the City of Perth.

The works are expected to be complete in November 2013.
