Queensland Urban Utilities has completed the construction of the $3 million West End sewer project.
Queensland Urban Utilities spokesperson, Michelle Cull, thanked the community for its patience during the seven months of construction work.
“It was a large project which involved laying 430m of new 500mm diameter sewer pipes along Mollison St,” she said.
“The upgrade will ensure the sewerage network caters for future population growth with the new pipes to link up to the Toowong sewer via a connection under the Brisbane River.”
“While it’s essential that we invest in a better sewerage service for the region, we want to thank the people of West End for their cooperation during the project.”
“We’d especially like to acknowledge the residents and businesses in Mollison St who were nearest the construction zone.”
Queensland Urban Utilities has also given back to the West End community by donating $5000 to Micah Projects’ 500 Lives 500 Homes program which helps transition homeless people into housing. The money went towards furnishing a unit in West End.
