Retiree Ken Izzard, of Ascot Vale, Vic, is flushed with happiness after winning back the cost of replacing his old inefficient toilet with a new water saving dual flush unit through City West Water’s Toilet Replacement Program.

By arranging for his old toilet to be replaced through City West Water, Mr Izzard was automatically entered into a one-off draw to win back the cost of his toilet replacement, valued at $349, plus a set of Sheridan bath towels.

“The old toilet was a single flush and used lots of water, so it was time to upgrade, and when I saw the deal that was on offer in my water bill, I called up and it was arranged straight away,” Mr Izzard said.

“They came out, removed the old toilet, connected the new one, and then took the old one away – I didn’t have to do anything.”

City West Water Managing Director, Anne Barker, said toilets are a major source of household water usage, and the Toilet Replacement Program is a convenient way to upgrade to a more efficient model at minimal cost.

“Toilets can use up to 13 per cent of household water, but for less than $400, customers can easily upgrade their old single flush or old inefficient dual flush unit and save up to 90 litres of water per person per day in the process,” Ms Barker said.

“I’d encourage all householders with old, water guzzling toilets to organise a new toilet through the program – it’s not only great value for money, but will help save tens of thousands of litres every year for years to come.”

Householders have a choice of three water efficient dual flush toilets, with installation carried out by Select Solutions and backed by a seven year workmanship warranty. The State Government rebate of $100 is included in the offer.

The dual flush toilets are manufactured by Caroma and come with a 10 year manufacturer’s warranty.
