The WA State Government, through the Water Corporation, has started work on a $3.12 million water distribution main along Marmion Avenue in Eglinton.
WA Water Minister Mia Davies said the new 1.3km water main would provide water for the suburbs of Alkimos and Eglinton, allowing for more development in the area.
The corporation will construct the new distribution main within the road reserve along Marmion Avenue, from Shorehaven Boulevard to Cinnabar Drive.
“This new main will serve people in the growing suburbs of Alkimos and Eglinton and is an important factor to accommodate the continued development of the area,” Ms Davies said.
The corporation has planned work to minimise disruption to local residents and road users. Local residents will be kept informed throughout the duration of the project. Traffic management plans will be advertised in the local newspaper and signage will be in place to advise road users of potential impacts.
“I thank the community and road users in advance for their patience while the corporation carries out this essential work,” the Minister said.
Construction of the new main is expected to be completed in October 2015.
