Two new water tanks have been installed by Power and Water in the Yirrkala community in the Northern Territory.
The Yirrkala community’s two new stainless steel water tanks received approval from the State Minister for Essential Services, Willem Rudolf Westra van Holthe, during an official opening ceremony.
This investment of $1.6m in Yirrkala’s water infrastructure doubles the community’s water holding capacity to 1.5 million litres creating important stability in water supply.
During the official opening, the Minister took time to meet with local stakeholders and enjoy a glass of water poured directly from the new tanks.
The trip to Yirrkala was hosted by Power and Water’s Remote Operations business unit, with General Manager Scott Robertson taking the opportunity to share with the Minister some of the great initiatives being undertaken by Power and Water in remote communities.
